Sham Peer Review is a relatively unknown career ending problem for doctors that has continued relatively unchallenged and unchecked for many years. I was one of its victims in 2011. It has taken a significant economic and emotional toil on me and numerous other doctors. There appears to be no end in sight due to the HCQIA law passed in 1986. This law allows physicians who sit on peer review committees to remain immune to possible law suits. This has resulted in absolute power. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
